Linn County Commissioners agree to house Benton County inmates

ALBANY — At their Tuesday morning, Linn County Commissioners Roger Nyquist, Sherrie Sprenger and Will Tucker approved an intergovernmental agreement to provide beds at the Linn County Jail for Benton County inmates at a rate of $105 per bed per day.

Sheriff Michelle Duncan told the commissioners the initial agreement began in 2010 and has been updated eight times. She called the situation of needing to house Benton County inmates extremely rare.

In other business, the commissioners:

· Approved an Intergovernmental Agreement with Lincoln County, which will provide Linn County Public Health with up to $350,000 to supply nurses to visit homes of vulnerable mothers to provide care and support to have healthy pregnancies.

· Approved writing off the following non-collectible Health Services accounts: Mental Health Services, 32 totaling $8,133; Alcohol & Drug Treatment Program, 34 totaling $2,839; Public Health, 36 totaling $65.88.

· Approved a refund of $1,200 to the Oregon Department of Human Services.

· Approved expanding the Noxious Weed Control Advisory Committee to nine members from its current seven and appointing Mellissa Barnard and John Jayne to the additonal positions.

· Announced there will be an Elected Officials meeting from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Linn County Fair & Expo Center.

· Held an executive session to discuss a potential real estate transaction. In public session, the board gave Linn County Administrative Officer Darrin Lane direction to pursue the potential transaction.
