Commissioners get Planning & Building update

ALBANY — Linn County Planning & Building issued 294 permits in September, department director Steve Wills told the Board of Commissioners Tuesday morning.

Wills said that included 25 permits for dwellings — five single-family units, two manufactured homes, 15 for additions/alterations and three for accessory buildings.

Wills said 16 commercial permits were issued. Of the 294 total permits, 52 required plan reviews.

There were 18 permits issued within contract cities, including two for new single-family housing.

There were 15 code enforcement cases closed and 24 new cases opened.

In his written report, Wills noted that Associate Planner Kate Bentz will participate as part of a panel talking about wildfire and hazard mitigation at the Oregon APA Planning Conference to be held Oct. 17-18.

In other business, the commissioners:

  • Approved an Intergovernmental Agreement for professional compensation study services between Portland State University and the Linn County Sheriff’s Office.
  • Received the quarterly financial report from Accounting Officer Bill Palmer. He said offices and departments are on track spending wise, after the first quarter of the new fiscal year. General Fund spending is at 22%, the General Road Fund is at 15.5%; the Law Enforcement Levy is at 18.4% and the Health Fund is at 12%. Palmer said both the Health Fund and Road Fund brought higher than expected carryovers into the new fiscal year.
  • Approved an Enterprise Zone School Support Fee rate between the Albany Public School District and the Linn County Enterprise Zone.
  • Approved extending a contract with DeepSeas to provide cybersecurity for the county. The contract will also add Log Analytics that will be monitored 24/7. The three-year contracts will be for $81,000 for current Endpoints coverage and $76,254.12 for adding the Log Analytics.
  • Agreed to clear debris from property at 2391 Porter Street in Lebanon.
  • Appointed Alan Kinsella and reappointed George Matland Jr. and Jeannie Davis to the Linn Local Advisory Committee.
  • Appointed Karsen O’Bryan and Reagan Knopp and reappointed Maureen Robb, Torri Lynn, Todd Noble to the Local Public Safety Coordinating Council.
  • Appointed Nickie Frisch Taylor to the Mental Health Advisory Board.
  • Appointed Nathan McIntyre to the Ambulance Service Area Advisory Committee.
  • Appointed Alejandra Sanchez to the Community Action Advisory Council.
  • Renamed the Board of Property Tax Appeals the Property Value Appeals Board, per state statute.
  • Approved a wrecking yard license for G & R Auto Wrecking.
  • Approved First-Time Youth Wage Agreements with Schmizza Public House, The Point Restaurant and Lounge, Figaro’s Pizza and Sweet Home Feed and Supply.
