About Historic Preservation 

Linn County is a member of the Certified Local Government (CLG) program, a federal program managed by the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) to promote historic preservation. As a Certified Local Government, Linn County is committed to documenting, preserving and promoting its historic resources. If you have a propterty you would like to list on the local or national register, we are here to help! Please reach out to our office to learn about the process and benefits of having a property on the historic register.


Historic Resources Commission (HRC)

The Historic Resources Commission is a citizen volunteer committee that works to document, protect, and promote the historic resources of Linn County. The HRC conducts public meetings and implements the Linn County Historic Preservation Program, and oversees the Linn County Register of Historic Resources. The HRC meets quarterly and commissioners serve three-year terms.
